The year 2020 marks the centennial of a pinnacle moment in the women’s suffrage movement—the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment. This conversation kicks off a year of suffrage-related programming and seeks to illuminate the struggle and triumph of women in leadership roles. From government, politics, business, higher education, and sports, women are shattering the glass ceiling and seeking to advance equity along the way. The 116th Congress has the highest percentage of women members in U.S. history at 106 members. This is a reflection of change, revealing that women are making remarkable strides to be represented and be acknowledged as leadership and decision-makers. Yet, representation does not mean access nor does it mean that challenges do not exist.
