Join us for a day of pruning public orchards around Cincinnati! In partnership with the Civic Garden Center, Turner Farm, the Common Orchard Project, and Giving Trees, we will be preparing many of the public fruit orchards for Spring! Topics covered will be pruning, scion collection, and general orchard care.
Building off of Turner Farm's “Fruit Trees: Pruning, Care & Selecting Varieties” class on February 22nd, this volunteer day will help spread the skills learned there throughout the greater Cincinnati region.
We will be meeting at the Civic Garden Center at 10 am on February 29 for a brief introduction before breaking into groups to head out to the orchards. Participants will have to use their own vehicles to travel between sites so we encourage carpooling.
With the event running till 2pm, we encourage everyone to bring water and a snack or a light lunch as we will be working in and around lunch time.
Tools will be provided but if you have a favorite pair of gloves, loppers or hand saw, feel free to bring them along, the more the merrier!
Afterwards, Groundwork will be reconvening at Listermann Brewing for a debrief and beer! Hope to see you on February 29th!
If you would like to attend, please reserve a spot!
