Alice Cary was born and raised in Mount Healthy, Ohio. Her work and legacy is closely correlated with her sister, Phoebe’s literary works. The two published Poems of Alice and Phoebe Cary, which was recognized by other prominent authors such as Edgar Allen Poe.
