Ladies, Wine & a bit of Design: The Cincinnati Chapter
Photography by Shamekko Early-Coleman and Meredith Post.
Ladies, Wine & a bit of Design is the brainchild of NYC-based designer, art director, illustrator, and creative agency partner Jessica Walsh.
In one of her published articles, Jessica identifies the gap between the number of female graphic designers in executive positions versus the total of graphic designers as a whole across all industries (only 3% in the creative industry; 5% female leadership across all industries). The clear need for support among the female designer community was the catalyst behind building this group.
LW&D began as intimate, salon-style conversations with creative women in the NYC area and has now spread to over 100 cities across the globe.
LW&D offers a safe space for women designers and creatives to discuss timely topics in an empowering, non-toxic environment and foster support in creativity. The organization covers topics such as vulnerability, mindfulness, creating community impact, and more.
One of the newer chapters is in Greater Cincinnati. LW&D Cincy is led by Meredith Post, design director at LPK.
LW&D Cincy hosted their latest gathering on December 7th at Hello Handzy’s shop in Covington. This month's discussion focused on creativity outside "typical" scenarios and constructs, community collaboration, and the motivation to keep the "inspiration tank" on full.
