BombASSbabes Session 11
BombASSbabes is a mini-series celebrating the tenacious broads of Cincinnati. The short films explore a sundry of hobbies, skills, and enthusiasms women choose to pour their creative energy into.
The hope is to expose what it means to live in tensions between vulnerable and unapologetic, tender and rooted, humble and bold, plus the millions more we call upon ourselves as we seek balance.
BombASSbabes welcomes trans, genderqueer, and non-binary people.
Claire Myers fighting like a lady.
Join the ranks of Cincinnati's local Dagorhir club—Galladorn.
Biz writes: why is Claire a babe. When Claire first told me she likes to whack people with foam weaponry (at least once a week), I had to take a step back. At work she is outwardly creative, very driven, and wildly polite. Upon hearing about her current sport of choice, though, I realized there was always something along the edges I could never pin down. It all clicked once I saw her in action. She has this spark for humor and sass, works her butt off, and can seriously take a hard hit. I really admire the way she fights on the field and in the office.
Claire writes: why she's a babe. Through fighting in Dagorhir, I have the opportunity to exercise my body and mind at the same time. It helps me keep in touch with my physicality and to express myself in more physically aggressive ways – something that is often implicitly or explicitly discouraged for girls and women. Every time I fight, I get to overcome a challenge (even if it's just my own exhaustion). Most importantly, I get to be part of Galladorn's supportive and encouraging community. I get to help foster and hand down that positive culture to new fighters.
