Women of Cincy Gift Guide: Fall 2019
My favorite part about moving to a new city is discovering the gems that stud the marketplace. I find so much joy in gawking over the perfectly curated shops, chock full of local, handmade goods, and the community of makers and doers that surround them. Cincinnati continues to reveal hidden treasures, and I’ve only brushed the surface. To me, there’s nothing better than being someplace full of people dedicated to pumping life back into their city.
I’ve been thinking a lot about why supporting local and shopping small means so damn much to me. The economy is a factor, as well as the environment, but mostly, it’s about the people. The only thing that tops the rush of buying something new is connecting with the person who made it. When you think about the time, energy, sweat, and tears that goes into a handcrafted ceramic mug or a homemade protein bar, everything feels a little more meaningful.
I’ve compiled a list of things you can find right here in the Queen City to get you ready for fall. Whether you’re hoping to refresh your look before school starts, meal prepping for a busy schedule ahead, or just looking to get cozy in your home, take a peek at some of Cincinnati’s makers.
The items featured in this guide are either made or sold by local, women-owned and -operated businesses because, simply put, we believe that where you spend your dollar matters. By being intentional with our hard-earned cash, we can support and celebrate the women bringing us the goods, building up communities, and making Cincinnati a great place to call home.
