The One Where We Introduce Community Mix
Hello, hello, hello!
If you don’t already know me, I’m Lindsay Combs. I am the student editor-in-chief here at Women of Cincy. I’m writing to you all from the comfort of my couch, with a glass of wine and a pint of ice cream. I’ve been waiting to write this until I could figure out exactly how to put my excitement into words.
Okay, well, I haven’t really found the words, but I’m so excited to finally share this big news with you all. As I’m sure you’ve figured out, due to the fact that you’ve made your way to this little letter of mine, this is Community Mix! You’ve seen similar content before, but now we’re crafting it with a different mindset.
What is Community Mix? Well, Cincinnati has some amazing people with stories, thoughts, and perspectives that we believe need to be shared. Community Mix is here to allow our hodgepodge of creators to write about and share the hodgepodge of stories in whatever way they so choose.
So how will this go? On the first Saturday of each month, our hodgepodge will launch. You might see “Scenes from the City,” reflections on our current events and happenings, health and wellness advice from our guest columnists, and so much more.
We want to make sure we are able to capture everything about this amazing city. If you ever feel like there is a column, piece, or person we should write about and add to the mix, tell us! You can nominate an individual or send an email to our editor-in-chief, Kiersten, with your ideas.
In my time with Women of Cincy, I’ve read some amazing stories. I’ve seen some amazing things happen. I started a little over a year ago as a little editorial resident, after my mom made me apply for the position. I’ve seen a group of women tackle the issue of housing insecurity in a way I’ve never seen before. I’ve watched as my mom was able to share about her life and even learn more about the hardships that my family faced when she was younger. There is still a lot left to share, and I can’t wait to bring these stories to you every month. Now, without further ado, go read! We’ve got scenes, badass women, and more.
